1) Our Approach

At System Multi Food, we build all our operations on the principles of responsible production, low-carbon growth, and a climate-aligned supply chain.

To reduce the impact of climate change on the food sector, we continuously improve every area of our business—from production and logistics to employee engagement and product life-cycle management. Our goal is to ensure that modern food production remains both sustainable and environmentally responsible.

Our company has calculated its 2023 baseline greenhouse gas inventory in accordance with ISO 14064-1 and has transparently reported all Scope 1, Scope 2, and Scope 3 emissions. As of 2025, we have initiated the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) target-setting process and begun implementing reduction commitments aligned with the WRAP Courtauld 2030 program.

The Vesta Forest, originally envisioned as a long-term nature-based climate solution, was officially established in 2025. This milestone reflects our commitment to creating natural carbon sinks that will help neutralize residual emissions in the years ahead.

During the development of our 2025 sustainability and energy efficiency plans, in our development plans a rooftop Solar Power Plant (GES) is planned. This system will strengthen our renewable-energy strategy and increased the share of clean electricity used across our facilities.

Together, these initiatives demonstrate that SMF sees sustainability not merely as an operational requirement, but as a core corporate value and a long-term strategic commitment.

2) Net Zero Commitment

SMF is committed to achieving Net Zero emissions by 2050.
The following targets have been formally adopted:

• 2035: Net Zero for Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions
• 2050: Net Zero for Scope 3 emissions
• 2030 interim targets:
• 30% reduction in Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions
• 30% reduction in Scope 3 emissions by 2030 and 90% by 2050

In line with these ambitions, SMF has initiated the SBTi target-submission process and submitted all required documentation for assessment.

3) Our Carbon Footprint (ISO 14064-1)

As part of our commitment to transparent climate reporting and responsible environmental management, SMF has completed its first comprehensive greenhouse gas (GHG) inventory in alignment with the ISO 14064-1:2018 international standard.

This initial report covers only the 2023 reporting year, which has been designated as the company’s baseline year for all future emissions reduction planning and Net Zero alignment. The study includes a full assessment of Scope 1, Scope 2 (market-based), and Scope 3 emissions relevant to our operational boundaries.

The 2023 inventory represents a critical milestone in our sustainability roadmap. It provides the quantitative foundation required to set science-based emissions reduction targets, monitor progress transparently, and shape long-term decarbonisation strategies. All calculations were prepared using accepted international methodologies, including the Greenhouse Gas Protocol, IPCC guidelines, and recognised emission factor databases.

SMF will continue to expand the scope and depth of its climate reporting in the coming years. Future inventories will build upon the 2023 baseline, allowing the company to track annual performance, enhance accuracy, and strengthen alignment with global climate disclosure frameworks.

4) Carbon Reduction Roadmap

SMF implements a long-term carbon reduction strategy across five key focus areas: product life-cycle, sustainable sourcing, employee culture, energy management, and nature-based solutions.

Short-Term Goals (by 2027)
•Product carbon footprint assessment and reporting
•Increased use of recyclable packaging materials
•Launch of supplier carbon footprint surveys
•Completion of LED lighting transformation
•Company-wide climate and energy awareness trainings

Medium-Term Goals (by 2030)
•Implementation of low-carbon logistics
•Solar PV (GES) generation supplying 50% of electricity consumption
•Wastewater reuse projects
•50% of suppliers committing to Net Zero
•Low-carbon procurement strategies

Long-Term Goals (by 2050)
•Low-carbon production standards across the full product portfolio
•Carbon-neutral operations in all facilities
•Electrification of 80% of the company fleet
•Use of nature-based carbon sinks to neutralize residual emissions

5) Energy & Climate Action

SMF places energy management at the core of its sustainability strategy.

Key initiatives include:
•Transformation to energy-efficient LED lighting systems
•Installation of a rooftop Solar Power Plant (GES)
•Transition of 50% of the company vehicle fleet to electric vehicles
•Continuous-improvement energy efficiency projects
•Regular company-wide climate and energy awareness training

These initiatives directly reduce the operational carbon footprint and reinforce SMF’s commitment to climate-positive action.

6) Sustainable Sourcing & Logistics

SMF adopts a collaborative approach with its suppliers to reduce supply-chain emissions.

Key actions include:
•Supplier carbon performance surveys
•Transition to low-carbon logistics and transportation systems
•Increasing the share of electric or alternative-fuel vehicles to 90% in product transportation (long-term goal)
•Prioritizing low-carbon goods and services in procurement

These efforts align with the sustainability principles encouraged under the WRAP Courtauld 2030 program.

7) People & Culture

SMF sees employee engagement and awareness as a strategic priority.

Initiatives include:
•Regular sustainability and climate training for all staff
•Establishment of a “Green Ideas” suggestion system
•Encouraging employees to adopt personal carbon-reducing habits
•Building a corporate culture rooted in climate responsibility

8) Nature-Based Solutions

SMF develops nature-based climate solutions alongside its carbon reduction targets.

Planned initiatives include:
•Establishment of the Vesta Forest
•Annual calculation of carbon-sink capacity
•Using the forest to offset residual company emissions
•A long-term natural carbon-sink management strategy

This reflects SMF’s commitment to leveraging the power of nature on its sustainability journey.
