SUNDRIED TOMATOES

August is the perfect month to dry our tomatoes as the weather is very hot and dry in the Bergama and Manisa meadows where we meticulously spread them to dry on protected fields. Our sun ripened red plum tomatoes are cut in half, sprinkled with salt and sun dried under scorching Aegean sun.

We can process and pack : Halves and diced regular moisture or soft (rehydrated), plain or marinated with herbs and/or in vegetable oil.
Packaging styles : Bulk (cartons of 10 or 5 kg) , doybags 100 – 500 g, vacuum trays 100-200 g, glass jars 320 or 210 cc.

The tomatoes lose almost 85 % of their original weight during drying but their sweetness, and nutrients are captured and their concentrated aroma is intensified. Sun-dried tomatoes are full of vitamins and minerals and antioxidants, particularly have a high concentration of lycopene. It is the pigment that gives their red color to fruits such as tomatoes and watermelon and it has many health benefits including sun protection, improved heart health and lowering the risk of certain types of cancer.
Sun-dried tomatoes can be used on their own in dishes or can be soaked and plumped up to be used in salads or marinated with your favorite herbs . Our tomatoes in jars are marinated with herbs and garlic and packed with vegetable oil (or in doybags) so that you can enjoy them as a delicious antipasto.
